Hundreds of business leaders from across the country today urged the Trump Administration to keep the International Entrepreneur Rule (IER) in place. They submitted a joint letter and individual statements in official comments in response to the Trump Administration’s announcement last month that it would postpone implementation of the IER until March 2018. The rule was set to go into effect July 17, and the Administration has indicated it will likely repeal the rule completely.
The International Entrepreneur Rule would allow foreign-born entrepreneurs to come to or stay in the Unites States temporarily to develop their startup. To qualify for the program, the entrepreneurs must demonstrate substantial potential for rapid growth and job creation. They are barred from using any government benefits during their limited stay.
