Washington, D.C. – Today, Business Forward Foundation published a training manual on gun safety and background checks. It offers business leaders guidance on how to make the business case for these critical reforms with local media and their elected officials.
“Gun safety is a contentious issue, but background checks have always received broad support,” said Jim Doyle, president of Business Forward. “Nearly nine in 10 Americans support closing current loopholes that allow unlicensed dealers to avoid conducting the simple background checks licensed dealers have been administering for years.”
The training manual covers five common points business leaders make, key facts and statistics about the costs of gun violence in the U.S., and things business leaders should keep in mind when they talk about gun safety and background checks. It also includes eight general rules to follow when talking to local media.
