“Business Forward has done hundreds of briefings on technology issues with business leaders across the country, and one thing is clear: outside of Washington, net neutrality isn’t a partisan issue. Just about everyone supports rules to prevent blocking, throttling, and discriminatory slow lanes. But in an era of divided government, the only way to effectively protect net neutrality is to pass bipartisan legislation—and today’s party-line committee vote doesn’t seem to bring us any closer to that urgently-needed bipartisan solution.
The Obama Administration supported two different approaches to net neutrality at the FCC: Plan A, in 2010, laid out a light-touch approach that could win bipartisan support today; Plan B, the 2015 rules at the heart of today’s party-line vote, will not. We understand that both sides prefer their own bills, but business owners and entrepreneurs cannot afford another two years of gridlock.”
